About The Position

Holt of California is seeking a Driver to operate a diesel-powered rollback truck for transporting heavy equipment. This role involves loading, unloading, and securing equipment, performing inspections, and adhering to all DOT regulations. The driver will also be responsible for delivery logs, customer interactions, and reporting any equipment issues or accidents.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write service reports.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.
  • Ability to fulfill the essential functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Perform tasks from verbal/written instructions and communicate effectively with supervisor and fellow employees.
  • High school or GED and/or one to two years of equipment experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid driver license class A.
  • Must have a clean D.M.V. report.

  • Ability to work with tie down equipment such as chains, straps, and other securement methods.
  • Build competencies and share skills with other technicians, retain acquired knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Loading and unloading heavy equipment and using proper securement methods.
  • Performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections on truck and trailer per B.I.T. guidelines.
  • Operating all types of heavy equipment.
  • Operating vehicle in accordance with DOT Federal and State regulations.
  • Completing delivery logs, including daily time sheets, delivery sheets, and safety inspections daily.
  • Delivering equipment within established time frames.
  • Receiving daily schedule from dispatcher.
  • Fueling trucks.
  • Handling unexpected situations such as traffic, weather, delivery locations, and road conditions.
  • Reporting any equipment malfunctions, defects, damage, violations, or safety issues to dispatcher or shop foreperson within 24 hours.
  • Inspecting vehicles for mechanic items and safety issues and performing preventive maintenance.
  • Having customers sign rental agreements on delivery.
  • Pointing out damage to equipment to the customer upon delivery or return and noting it on the rental agreement.
  • Reporting any accidents immediately to the dispatcher.
  • Completing accident reports for each incident and turning them in to the Store Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
