About The Position

Garelick Farms, a Dairy Farmers of America company, is hiring a Driver Resupply - Transport-Class A! We offer competitive pay, excellent benefits, and growth opportunities. This role involves operating a tractor-trailer to transport products between locations (plant, branch). You may drop deliver to large accounts, handle non-driver controlled orders, and deliver on a tractor trailer. The position requires transporting products across state lines or hauling products that originate in other states if delivering intrastate. The work schedule is a 4-day work week, Sunday through Wednesday, with shifts typically starting at 4 PM and finishing when the route is complete. Compensation is hourly, ranging from $30.00 to $32.00, with an additional $1.50/hour shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, within the last 5 years preferred
  • Must meet minimum age requirements
  • Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
  • Must meet all DOT requirements
  • Valid Class A CDL with Air Brake endorsement
  • Some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement
  • License or operator’s permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application
  • Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements
  • Skill with math for calculating load size and recording accurate volume/weight measurements
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Able to be proactive in seeking solutions and taking appropriate steps to solve problems
  • Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
  • Able to be punctual, follow directions, and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices
  • Verify shipment accuracy and ensure saleable condition of product
  • Transact proper documentation in computerized hand-held device or paper
  • Load/unload trucks
  • Resolve discrepancies and communicate issues to supervisor
  • Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns. Report any moving violations to management immediately
  • Inspect equipment according to company and DOT regulations (tractor, trailer, pallet jack, load bars, lift gates)
  • Complete all daily DOT and customer paperwork including delivery tickets, pre and post trip inspections, driver logs, and vehicle service reports
  • Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment used (tires, fuel, oil check, etc.) and maintain a clean vehicle
  • Stock and/or rotate product in warehouse where required
  • Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
  • Use company supported applications or systems properly
  • Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals
