Driver - Reader
About The Position
Catholic Charities Maine Education Services for Blind & Visually Impaired Children (ESBVIC) is looking to hire a Driver/Reader for the Brunswick and Midcoast Maine. ESBVIC is a statewide program that provides assessment, instruction, and consultation to blind and visually impaired children birth through 21, their parents, and school personnel. The Driver-Reader provides transportation to staff persons who are visually impaired or otherwise unable to drive and assists with reading and other visual tasks for which the staff person requires visual assistance. This position is roughly 12-20 hours per week.
Requirements
- Experienced motor vehicle driver with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Maintain a safe and reliable vehicle and show proof of vehicle insurance and current valid vehicle inspection.
- Ability to read reports, letters, charts, and articles.
- Minimum high school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Provides transportation to staff persons who are visually impaired or otherwise unable to drive.
- Assists with reading and other visual tasks for which the staff person requires visual assistance.
