About The Position

This PRN role will support both pediatric care mobiles for the North & South teams. This driver role will be utilized to support back up coverage of the full-time drivers. Expected need is 1-2 days a month. The driver is accountable for transporting team members and the mobile care unit to and from client sites, establishing and maintaining a safe environment for all clients within the mobile care unit by wearing seatbelts, operating vehicles safely and obeying rules of the road. The driver will also assist with the daily and routine maintenance tasks of the mobile care unit, organize and transport supplies and materials, ensure the mobile care unit is clean and organized before and after site visits, and fill in as a driver for alternate care mobile sites as needed. Additionally, the driver will schedule and deliver the van for service and routine maintenance, monitor and maintain appropriate fuel and vehicle fluid levels, assist other staff with end-of-day tasks such as waste disposal and equipment maintenance, ensure the mobile care unit exterior is clean and functional, and maintain a maintenance log. The role also involves attending to patient check-in and health/safety related screenings, including registration and consent completions. Computer training will be provided.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year previous experience in driving large vehicles.
  • Organization, planning and time management skills.
  • Problem resolution skills.
  • Courteous and professional interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Requires ability to communicate factual information in an emergency situation.
  • Current CPR Certification. (will provide upon hire)
  • Valid Illinois State driver's license which is monitored annually.
  • Illinois CDL class B license with passenger endorsement.
  • Knowledgeable regarding preventative vehicle maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot vehicle problems onsite and communicate to automotive service provider.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and transports supplies and materials at direction of team members.
  • Ensure mobile care unit clean and organized before and after site visit.
  • Fills in as a driver for alternate care mobile sites as needed.
  • Works with program coordinator to find and schedule driver coverage.
  • Schedules and delivers van for service and routine maintenance.
  • Monitors and maintains appropriate fuel and vehicle fluid levels.
  • Assists other staff in with "end of the day" tasks i.e. waste disposal and equipment maintenance.
  • Ensures mobile care unit exterior is clean and functional.
  • Maintains maintenance log.
  • Patient check-in and assisting patients on van to be seen by clinical team.
  • Registration and consent completions.
  • Attend to any health/safety screening mandated by State or Hospital policy/protocol.
