Driver Operations Coordinator

Independent WasteBirmingham, AL
Onsite

About The Position

Independent Waste is a tech-enabled C&D roll-off hauler operating across five markets — Birmingham, Nashville, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Huntsville. Our drivers are the engine of everything we do, and keeping that engine healthy is the job. The Driver Operations Coordinator is a proactive, ownership-driven role sitting at our Birmingham headquarters and supporting all five markets. You're not waiting for problems to surface — you're reading the signals early. You know which drivers are trending the wrong direction before it becomes a gap on the board, and you're already sourcing the next hire before the seat goes empty. This role reports to Operations Leadership and works closely with our Driver CSR team and market managers daily.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in operations, logistics, or fleet coordination
  • Trucking, construction, or field services background is a strong plus
  • A self-starter who builds their own rhythm — you don't wait to be told what needs attention, you find it
  • Exceptionally organized with a track record of managing multiple deadlines across multiple people or locations
  • Comfortable working across systems — spreadsheets, TMS platforms, HR and onboarding tools, telematics reporting
  • Clear, direct communicator — with drivers, with managers, and with leadership
  • High ownership mentality — if something is falling through the cracks, you catch it and fix it without being asked

Nice To Haves

  • DOT driver qualification file knowledge is a plus, but not required — we'll train the right person
