About The Position

At PALS, we focus on physical activity and life skills (PALS) to create opportunities and success for individuals with disabilities. Our programs provide the necessary tools for them to be active community members and maintain a high quality of life. We are committed to our communities and foster growth through partnerships. Our team consists of dedicated individuals who want to make a difference. The Driver for Non-Medical Transportation is responsible for picking up clients from Adult Living Facilities, residential homes, or other agreed-upon locations and transporting them safely to programming, and returning them daily. The Driver is also responsible for transportation documentation, vehicle cleanliness, scheduled maintenance, and ensuring all safety equipment is functional.

Requirements

  • Must successfully pass the DOT physical.
  • Must have minimum High School degree or equivalent there of.
  • Must have knowledge of the principles and practices of the discipline.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals
  • Must have appropriate experience and documentation capabilities
  • Maintains current and annual training requirements
  • Must successfully complete all criminal background screens as needed
  • Must have valid Ohio Driver License and less than 6 points and provide BMV Drivers abstract.
  • Must pass physical and Drug Screen.
  • Must be able to safely drive a company vehicle
  • Driving history must meet insurance carrier requirements
  • Must have at least six (6) months of driving commercial vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Safely pick up clients from Adult Living Facility, or other agreed upon location, using a company Vehicle
  • Safely take clients to Adult Living Facility, or other agreed upon location, upon completion of daily program using the company vehicle.
  • Ensure safety of clients at all times during transportation on and off the van (i.e. using a safety step)
  • Routinely check functions of van and maintain proper maintenance schedule for the vehicle
  • Ensure all safety equipment is in good working order
  • Responsible for client supervision/support
  • Responsible for documentation, including but not limited to, Vehicle Safety Checks, billing sheets and other program documentation.
  • Attend weekly technician meeting for additional training
  • Interact appropriately and professionally with clients and the community.
