About The Position

Patient Care Representative & Mobile Unit Driver (PCR/MUD) Behavioral Health Mobile Unit – Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center (FQHC) The Patient Care Representative & Mobile Unit Driver (PCR/MUD) plays a dual role supporting both patient-facing operations and the safe and efficient transport of the Behavioral Health Mobile Unit. This position provides clerical, receptionist, and care coordination support while ensuring timely transportation of the mobile unit to partner schools and community locations. The PCR/MUD represents Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center (SURHC) with professionalism, cultural humility, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care. The role is essential in creating and maintaining an environment where all members of the Care Team feel respected, supported, and empowered to contribute to high-quality patient care and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated experience in a business office, front desk, customer service, or medical reception environment.
  • Proven success working with the public, including strong communication, service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience handling challenging customer or patient interactions with professionalism and empathy.
  • Basic computer proficiency with the ability to learn electronic health record systems and other software tools.
  • Valid driver’s license required; Class E or appropriate CDL strongly preferred or required per state regulations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols, including vehicle inspections and adherence to transportation regulations.
  • Excellent time management, reliability, and punctuality.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a healthcare or behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, route-planning tools, and/or electronic logging devices preferred.
  • Bilingual or multilingual ability (Spanish, etc.) highly preferred.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and community settings.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate, transport, and secure the Behavioral Health Mobile Unit to assigned service locations.
  • Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections; promptly report any mechanical, safety, or operational concerns to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, internal safety protocols, and FQHC operational standards.
  • Utilize GPS, route-planning tools, and/or electronic logging systems (when applicable) to ensure efficient travel and schedule adherence.
  • Perform all clerical and receptionist duties including patient registration, check-in, scheduling, pre-visit coordination, and documentation.
  • Support behavioral health providers and the Care Team by organizing patient flow, preparing records, and assisting with visit logistics.
  • Communicate with school partners, community sites, and internal SURHC departments to support mobile unit operations.
  • Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and all SURHC policies and procedures.
  • Collect required documentation from schools or centers to ensure students are eligible to be seen on the mobile unit.
  • Assist patients and families with follow-up appointment scheduling, referrals, or navigation of SURHC services.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, school staff, and SURHC personnel.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, de-escalation, and problem-solving support when patient concerns or questions arise.
  • Facilitate communication for non-English-speaking patients by providing interpreting in a qualified language (if applicable), or coordinating external interpreter services.
  • Ensure all patients and families feel welcomed, respected, and supported throughout their visit.
  • Assess patient and family understanding of instructions or information provided and request clarification when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, schedules, and reports as required by SURHC, the Behavioral Health Unit, and FQHC standards.
  • Protect patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources relevant to behavioral health and social support services.
