About The Position

The Driver Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing a team of drivers to ensure efficient and compliant transportation operations. This role involves assigning drivers to routes, monitoring performance, providing support, and managing operational goals. The Driver Manager will also be involved in driver payroll, performance reviews, and developing strategies to improve fleet utilization.

Requirements

Experience with TMS and other transportation operating systems.
Ability to interface with Account Managers regarding service issues.
Proficiency in monitoring key performance indicators such as on-time performance, service levels, driver productivity, and equipment utilization.
Experience processing and verifying driver payroll.
Experience performing annual performance reviews, coaching, and providing feedback.
Ability to create and maintain a spot freight network.

Responsibilities

Monitor, track, and assign drivers to dedicated routes while ensuring compliance with Hours-of-Service regulations.
Maintain utilization of tractors and trailers to meet or exceed budget and operational expectations.
Provide drivers with dispatch instructions, delivery information, and operational support to ensure successful and on-time service through the TMS and other transportation operating systems.
Serve as a primary point of contact for drivers and assist with resolving operational issues.
Interface with Account Manager regarding service failures, delivery concerns, OS&D, and other transportation-related issues.
Maintain daily operational revenue goals and report performance metrics on a weekly basis.
Monitor on-time performance, service levels, driver productivity, equipment utilization, and other key performance indicators.
Process and verify driver payroll accurately on a weekly basis.
Perform annual performance reviews for direct reports and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development.
Create and maintain a spot freight network to generate backhaul opportunities and improve fleet utilization.
