About The Position

The Driver Manager is responsible for assigning jobs to ensure efficient driver operations and for ensuring company policies are followed and work is conducted safely. The role develops and maintains professional relationships with drivers, communicates with customers, maximizes driver availability and equipment utilization, and coordinates the timely movement of loaded trucks carrying various products. The position reports to the Terminal Manager. The role includes reviewing dispatch sheets, driver assignments, and orders; scheduling loads and assigning qualified drivers; entering load information into TMW and preparing delivery receipts; and providing drivers with relevant load documentation and information. It also involves maintaining customer specifications and Safety Data Sheets (SDS), reviewing drivers’ Hours of Service logs, updating hours and reports as needed, addressing employee and customer concerns, and following company and government safety requirements and emergency procedures. The position typically operates in a standard office environment and uses computers, phones, and scanners.

Requirements

Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and similar tools.
Minimum 5 years of related experience.
Familiarity with DOT and OSHA regulations.
Willingness to travel to the corporate office and other locations as needed.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
Strong organizational, administrative, and analytical skills.
Solid communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to be flexible and adapt to change in a fast-paced organization.

Responsibilities

Assign jobs and schedule loads, ensuring qualified drivers are assigned and driver operations are efficient.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with drivers and address their needs.
Communicate with customers in a timely and effective manner to provide a high level of service.
Maximize driver availability and equipment utilization to support revenue and profitability.
Review dispatch sheets and driver assignments to ensure all loads are dispatched.
Review orders and process or distribute them according to terminal procedure.
Coordinate timely and efficient movement of loaded trucks carrying various products.
Enter load information into the TMW system and prepare delivery receipts for each load.
Provide drivers with documentation and pertinent information for scheduled loads.
Initiate and maintain customer specifications and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for products hauled.
Review drivers’ Hours of Service logs, determine available hours, and update hours in the computer as required.
Update or forward reports as directed by terminal management.
Perform other duties specified by terminal or corporate management.
Incorporate measures to prevent waste and lost time.
Address concerns from employees and customers.
Ensure compliance with safety rules, including applicable OSHA and DOT requirements; enforce and practice company and government-agency safety rules and monitor risk.
Understand and follow established policies and procedures in emergency situations.
