About The Position

The Local – Non CDL Driver is responsible for executing same-day pickup and delivery (P&D) operations within a defined geographic area, ensuring safe, timely, and accurate transportation of freight. This role requires a safety-first mindset, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to providing high-quality, professional service. Drivers are expected to manage multiple stops per shift, maintain accurate shipment documentation, and represent DSV professionally at all customer interactions.

Requirements

  • Valid Class-C Driver License required
  • Clean driving record for the past two (2) years
  • Minimum 1yr Medical Certificate - Minimum ICC requirements related to physical qualifications as set forth under Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 391.41, Physical Qualifications of Drivers.
  • TWIC card (or ability to obtain within 90 days, if required)
  • No positive drug or alcohol test result in the past five (5) years
  • No accident involving bodily injury within the last three (3) years
  • No DUI/DWI, Reckless Driving, or Speeding Tickets 12 MPH or higher in the past five (5) years.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in local P&D operations, multi-stop routing, and urban driving environments preferred
  • Strong understanding of load securement and freight handling
  • Ability to navigate efficiently using GPS and route planning tools
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and professionalism in customer-facing environments

Responsibilities

  • Perform local pickup and delivery (P&D) routes within an assigned service area; home daily
  • Safely operate a non-CDL vehicle (box truck under CDL threshold) while adhering to all DOT regulations (as applicable to non-CDL Drivers), state traffic laws, and company policy.
  • Complete multiple stops per day, including pickups, deliveries, and potential returns.
  • Interact professionally with customers, ensuring clear communication and high service standards at all delivery points.
  • Accurately complete and manage shipping documents, proof of delivery (POD), and electronic logs (ELD)
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance and report defects or maintenance issues immediately
  • Safely back trucks into docks and maneuver in tight or congested delivery locations
  • Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transport
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with dispatch regarding route updates, delays, or service issues
  • Ensure freight is properly staged, loaded, and unloaded according to customer and operational requirements
  • Identify and report mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately
  • Represent DSV professionally at customer locations.
  • Maintain compliance with all DOT and State Traffic requirements, including hours of service and drug/alcohol policies
  • Support team operations by assisting with loading/unloading or dock coordination when needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support local operations
