About The Position

Make every day count by helping others move forward with confidence! As a Driver License Examiner for the Department of Transportation, you support safe driving through fair and accurate testing. You help applicants understand the rules of the road and prepare for responsible driving. Your work strengthens public safety and creates positive experiences for customers. This position focuses on evaluating driver license applicants and providing customer service at the Driver License Center.

Requirements

• One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
• Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent
• Twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
• No suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
• Must meet the PA residency requirement.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports.
• Must undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

• Obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.

Responsibilities

• Assess driving ability, physical qualifications, and vision results
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical readiness and proper equipment
• Review identity, residency, and citizenship records for authenticity
• Complete applications, test results, and issue license products
• Provide guidance on renewals, transfers, and specialty license requirements
• Follow all policies for customer service, REAL ID, fee waivers, and Title VI
