This position plays an important role in supporting safe travel by evaluating drivers and assisting customers at the Driver License Center in Lebanon. As a Driver License Examiner, you will perform the following duties: Testing Applicants: Conduct vision checks, knowledge exams, and on-road driving tests for commercial and non-commercial applicants Inspecting Vehicles: Check vehicles for proper mechanical condition and readiness before testing begins Reviewing Documents: Examine identity and eligibility documents to detect irregularities and prevent fraud Processing Transactions: Complete applications, record test results, as well as issue driver license and identification products Assisting Customers: Provide clear information about licensing requirements, procedures, and available services Using Systems: Access databases to confirm identity, verify records, and ensure compliance with REAL ID and other regulations

Requirements

  • One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
  • Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
  • No suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
  • Possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with P and N endorsements.
  • Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.
  • Undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

  • All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
