About The Position

The Bureau of Motor Vehicles oversees driver and motor vehicle licensing and registration and continues to make services more convenient, efficient and cost-effective. This position acts as a lead worker over driver license examiners and/or clerical employees at one or multiple driver examining stations and directs all routine operations of the station during business hours. The role involves leading lower-level driver examiners and clerical personnel in their daily duties, providing training and guidance to new examiners and clerks, and assisting examiners with understanding test processes to properly communicate test results and grading reasoning. The position also involves completing training and observation reports, checking test appointment schedules for fairness and maximum assignments, and resolving disputes between applicants/public and station employees.

Requirements

  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes calculating fractions, decimals & percentages & in reading, writing & speaking English
  • 24 months of training or 24 months of experience in laws & signs applicable for operation of all types of motorized vehicles & Bureau of Motor Vehicles' rules, policies & procedures governing testing for & issuance of licenses
  • Valid Ohio Class 'D' Driver license
  • 24 months of experience as Driver License Examiner 1
  • Maintain valid Ohio Class 'D' Driver License
  • Customer Service

Responsibilities
