About The Position

The Driver III will operate commercial truck/trailer, tractor trailer or combination vehicle (a vehicle that weighs over 26,000 lbs.) that requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A to pick-up and deliver parcels. AIT/ Spur Drivers are responsible for safely and accurately deliver and pickup cargo, keep accurate driving log- ELD and for inspect and maintain the company trucks.

Requirements

  • 3+ years Required
  • Reading and writing English, knowledge of airport codes destinations and basic geography knowledge (Medium proficiency)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills (Medium proficiency)
  • Actively participates in safety policies, activities, and implementations (Medium proficiency)
  • Maintain a current Medical Card (High proficiency)
  • Have an acceptable MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) (High proficiency)
  • Must be able to pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam and road test (High proficiency)
  • Cargo screening is required if driving in CA. (High proficiency)
  • No more than three (3) moving violations in the past 36 months (or combination of two (2) moving violations previous 12 months. Moving violations include seatbelt and cell phone violations. (High proficiency)
  • No preventable accidents involving a fatality, bodily injuries treated away from the scene, or disabling damage to a motor vehicle within three years (High proficiency)
  • Has no conviction for driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs violation within the past seven (7) years (High proficiency)
  • No positive drug or alcohol results in last 7 years reported to Clearinghouse (High proficiency)
  • General Computer Skills (Medium proficiency)
  • CDL - Group A - Commercial Drivers License Must have Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A license Required
  • Must be a TSA-certified truck driver and obtain a STA number upon employment Required

Responsibilities

  • Drive truck to and from specified destinations safely and follow all state, local laws, and DOT regulations
  • Focuses on safety and compliance including the real time reporting of any accidents, incidents encountered on the road, monitoring of road conditions and following all applicable traffic laws
  • Handles general fleet maintenance including appropriate fueling, cleaning of truck, washing of windows, full inspection of truck before and after trip and proactive reporting of any maintenance needs
  • Prepare receipt for load picked up or bill of lading.
  • Maintain driver hours of service using electronics logs and ensures rest periods according to state and federal regulations
  • Maintains and ensures compliance with DOT and other applicable regulations, including State or Federal regulations
  • Provides timely communication with supervisor/ manager regarding the status of daily route; including, when stops have been completed, when taking lunch or other brakes, and prior to clocking out
  • Ensures timeliness of client delivery by proactively anticipating any delivery challenges and ensuring timely departure
  • Inspect truck equipment and supplies. Ensure time, date, verification, and signature on all freight paperwork
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs, secure cargo with proper equipment; load bars, e-track, and straps during transit
  • May load and unload truck when not driving the truck
  • May operate a forklift or pallet jack when not driving the truck
  • Destination may be either Short Haul or Long Haul
  • Maintain a clean work environment and follow safety policies
