About The Position

Drivers transport residents and members to and from destinations throughout the greater Cincinnati area using a bus, wheelchair van, or passenger vehicle, following an established schedule. This is a part-time position of up to 10 hours per week, with availability on Tuesdays, occasional Thursday evenings, and Saturdays. The driver follows assigned schedules and applicable policies and traffic laws, drives safely and courteously, responds promptly to calls, and delivers passengers and requested items to the appropriate destinations. The role includes reviewing schedules and conducting required safety checks before departure, completing trip documentation, operating assigned vehicles and wheelchair lifts, and properly securing passengers and equipment. Drivers keep vehicles clean and orderly and promptly report mechanical problems. They also attend annual mandatory in-services, maintain confidentiality, support the administration and the Bayley’s mission and philosophy, and perform other requested or required duties.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver's license.
Fewer than six points for traffic violations at any time.
Commercial Driver's License.
Compliance with training requirements of OAC 173-39-20.
Compliance with Commercial Driver Fitness Determination, including drug and alcohol testing.
Ability to safely operate cars, vans, and buses in varying weather conditions.
Ability to operate wheelchair lifts and vehicle safety equipment.
Thorough knowledge of area roads and ability to read road maps.
Ability to adjust routes in response to traffic or weather conditions.
Ability to interact with elderly and handicapped people in a friendly and professional manner.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of client information.
Professional appearance and behavior.
At least 18 years of age.
Minimum two years of driving experience.

Respond promptly to calls and deliver requested items and passengers to the appropriate destinations.
Review the daily schedule and complete required safety checks before departure.
Complete and return required trip documentation in a timely manner.
Drive assigned transportation vehicles, operate wheelchair lifts, and secure residents and accompanying equipment for transport.
Keep vehicles clean and orderly and immediately report observed mechanical problems.
Demonstrate professionalism, support administration, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to the Bayley’s mission and philosophy.
Attend mandatory annual in-services.
Perform other duties as requested or required.
