Responsible for the safe transportation of ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals from residence to programming areas. This role involves daily maintenance and safety checks on vehicles, maintaining logs of ridership and mileage, and executing emergency evacuations if needed. The driver will also encourage and guide individuals in developing daily living skills, intervene in cases of inappropriate behavior, and assist in maintaining a safe environment. A key aspect of the role is to understand, identify, and advocate for individual rights, serving as a positive role model. The position requires maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations and reporting any pertinent information regarding individual needs to management. The driver must also read and understand all Individual Plan of Protection (IPOPs) for riders.
