About The Position

The Driver I, Straight Truck will operate vehicles necessary in order to support the mission of the organization. This role involves operating trucks on various assignments and shifts, including home pick-ups, Attended Donation Centers (ADC) runs, store deliveries, and other miscellaneous transportation requirements. The driver will maintain communication with the office, ensure vehicle maintenance, and handle donation receipts when assigned house call pick-ups. For store deliveries, the driver must ensure proper material handling and adhere to delivery schedules.

Requirements

  • A High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Two (2) years of truck driving experience with a safe driving record.
  • Ability to use two (2) wheel dolly.
  • Ability to read and follow maps/GPS.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Overtime or travel requirement; occasional overtime; work varied schedule to include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, management staff, and peers.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work with persons with disabled and disadvantaged conditions.
  • Must have strong work ethic, be a self-starter, problem-solver, and team player.
  • Ability to understand and follow all Goodwill safety standards and guidelines, and to read, comprehend, and follow Goodwill Employee Handbook, departmental manuals, and all numbered or supplemental policies.
  • The incumbent will be required and must have the ability to drive for company business.
  • Applicants/employees will be required to undergo a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and background check; applicants/employees must disclose all moving traffic violations or vehicle crashes (within the last five (5) years); must have valid Colorado State driver license; must also be able to operate company vehicle, and adhere to all Federal, State, and local laws governing vehicle operation.
  • Applicants/employees using their personal vehicle for company business (receiving company mileage reimbursement), must have valid vehicle insurance, valid driver license, and vehicle must be in roadworthy condition.
  • Candidates offered this position will be required to successfully complete pre-employment screening, which could include: a background check, drug test, reference check, employment verification, education verification, fingerprinting, and/or MVR (if applicable, based on position).
  • For applicants/employees to qualify for inclusion on the Goodwill driver insurance schedule, for purpose of driving Goodwill fleet vehicles, or for purpose of receiving company mileage reimbursement they must be at least 19 years of age (not engaged in passenger transportation), 25 – 70 years of age for all passenger transportation services, 21 years of age for CDL.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks on varied assignments and shifts, such as home pick-ups, ADC runs, store deliveries, and other miscellaneous transportation requirements.
  • Maintain cellular phone/radio contact with the Home Pick-up Service office when on route.
  • Check and maintain the driver maintenance of the vehicle assigned. Report any deficiencies to vehicle maintenance. Maintain fuel and oil consumption records as required by Goodwill directives.
  • When assigned house call pick-ups, complete and issue donation receipts to each donor.
  • When assigned store deliveries, ensure that all material is handled properly and maintain established delivery schedules.
  • Other duties as assigned.
