About The Position

This role is for a Driver Helper on night shifts, ensuring all tasks are performed according to company policies and procedures. The position emphasizes workplace safety, including assisting the driver with backing maneuvers and acting as an extra set of eyes on the road. Responsibilities include loading and unloading products, putting products away at customer locations, maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the vehicle and equipment, performing vehicle inspections, operating hand trucks and pallet jacks, verifying inventory against manifests, reporting incidents, and adhering to all safety requirements for product transportation and warehousing. The role requires attention to detail in the safe transportation of food products and food warehousing practices.

Requirements

  • Strong work ethic.
  • Prior experience lumping and moving 1,500+ cases daily
  • Ability to follow all safety protocols including spotting the Driver in close quarter maneuvers.
  • Ability to work around vehicles in a safe manner, including completing vehicle inspections.
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to lift 25/50/80 pounds regularly.
  • Lifting, bending, and moving for long hours.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • The ability to see well at night.
  • The ability to work flexible hours.
  • Must be able to work overnight.
  • Must be able to work Friday and Sunday nights.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all tasks are performed according to company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure workplace safety – getting out of truck and assisting with backing up from outside the truck, staying awake with Driver during trips, watching road and being another set of eyes on the road.
  • Load and unload products from trucks or trailers.
  • Put product away at customer locations based on customer specifications.
  • Assists maintaining the vehicle and equipment, keeping it clean and safe.
  • Assists with vehicle inspections before and after each trip.
  • Operate hand trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Make sure inventory being delivered matches manifest.
  • Report any incident to supervisor immediately.
  • Attention to detail in all aspects of the safe transportation of food products and food ware-housing practices.
  • Follow all company and state-enforced safety requirements for loading and unloading products.
