About The Position

The Driver Helper, a full-time position, works under the supervision of the Transportation Manager and is responsible for assisting the Driver with loading and unloading trucks and trailers as needed. This role involves assisting with the loading and unloading of all donated goods, ensuring proper sorting and placement of materials into designated containers. It also includes assisting in loading and unloading of all trucks and trailers with processed goods and materials for store shipments, salvage and trash runs, and aiding drivers with navigation and observation of potential hazards. The position requires ensuring compliance with all Goodwill Industries® Sacramento Valley Northern Nevada policies, CARF standards, and safety and security regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass drug and background screening.
  • Must function collaboratively within a team environment yet remain independently resourceful.
  • Must have excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of material handling equipment, with the aptitude to learn to operate pallet jack and hand trucks
  • Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.
  • Must have the ability to work productively with minimal supervision.
  • Must provide and maintain valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be insurable on companies’ automobile policy.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation that does not interfere with performing the essential functions of the job description, cause tardiness, or unexcused absences.
  • Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others or property.
  • No record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates a tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior.
