About The Position

The primary responsibility for a yard associate is to safely load, unload, and handle millwork products, including windows, doors, trim, and related building materials. This position assists with receiving vendor deliveries, stocking and organizing inventory, preparing customer orders for pickup and delivery, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized yard and warehouse. The Yard Associate may also assist with deliveries as a driver helper when needed while providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

Must have a valid driver's license.
Ability to operate or obtain certification for forklifts and chainsaws.
Desire to learn and grow professionally.
Self-motivated and productive.
Physical strength to lift and carry 75 pounds consistently.
Ability to use a tape measure and follow directions.
Customer-oriented self-starter who is a quick learner and adapts easily to new tasks.
Must be willing to work outside in various weather conditions.
Knowledge of and ability to understand basic mechanical systems.

Nice To Haves

Lumber yard material handling, order fulfillment, and long-load forklift experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

Learn company products, procedures, culture, and customer service philosophy.
Load and unload millwork products, including windows, doors, trim, hardware, and other building materials, according to sales invoices and delivery schedules.
Prepare and stage customer orders for pickup and delivery, ensuring accuracy and product quality.
Accurately record all merchandise returns on a credit memo.
Receive, inspect, stock, and organize millwork inventory and vendor deliveries.
Label, track, and organize special-order millwork products.
Listen and work with customers to identify and meet their product and service needs.
Assist with handling, packaging, and securing windows, doors, trim, and other millwork products to prevent damage.
Assist with basic maintenance and safe operation of equipment such as forklifts, banders, saws, and other material-handling equipment.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe millwork shop, warehouse, and yard.
Assist with occasional deliveries as a driver helper, including loading, unloading, and delivering materials to customers when needed.
Perform duties in all types of weather conditions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
