About The Position

This role involves operating a roll-off truck to haul scrap metal, inspecting and grading metal for inventory, and ensuring safe operation according to DOT regulations. The driver will communicate with the office and customers to manage loads and address customer needs. Additionally, the position requires collaboration with yard employees for a safe working environment and performing daily maintenance on the truck, including refueling and cleaning. A clean-up of the work area at the end of the shift is also expected.

Requirements

• Must pass medical physical and drug test
• Must pass background check
• Ability to communicate with others effectively
• Ability to understand direction (written or oral)
• Ability to use basic math skills as job demands

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma/ GED
• Previous experience operating wheel loader a plus

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks hauling scrap metal
• Inspect and determine metal grade for inventory tracking
• Perform DOT daily operation and safety inspection
• Communicate with office and customers to determine commodities load
• Works independently when driving scrap metal
• Works with customers to satisfy their needs and assist them when problems arise
• Work with other employees in scrap metal yard to ensure a safe working environment
• Perform daily operation maintenance: refueling, lubrication, cooling system cleaning and housekeeping
• Clean up work area at end of shift
