About The Position

Temple University's Main Campus Facilities Department is searching for a Driver/Groundskeeper. This role involves skillfully and safely operating various vehicles and landscape equipment, performing groundskeeping services, and adhering to University work rules and safety procedures. The position requires maintaining work areas and equipment, professional interaction with others, and reporting unsatisfactory conditions to supervision.

Requirements

Possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver’s license and report changes in driver’s license status to supervision immediately.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
A minimum of two (2) years of verifiable full-time employment or college-level coursework in groundskeeping, landscaping, horticulture, or a related field.
Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license or the ability to obtain one if hired.
Ability to drive stick shift vehicles.
Ability to drive skillfully and safely.
Ability to perform landscape duties.
Skillfully operate skid loaders, tractors, and other common landscape equipment.
Demonstrated knowledge of grounds-keeping, landscaping, and horticulture.
Ability to understand and follow written instructions.
Ability to carry out litter and trash removal.
Ability to carry out snow removal.
Ability to carry out hard surface cleaning.

Responsibilities

Skillfully and safely operate various stick shift and automatic transmission trucks, tractors, skid loaders, and other landscape equipment.
Perform labor for groundskeeping services on the Temple University Health Sciences Campus and related areas.
Conduct landscape/horticultural work, turf care, athletic field maintenance, litter/trash removal, snow removal, and hard surface cleaning.
Follow University work rules and safety procedures.
Maintain work areas and equipment in a safe and orderly condition.
Professionally interact with others.
Report unsatisfactory conditions to the proper supervisor.
Perform routine vehicle checks and basic maintenance.
Plant and transplant, prune, edge, prepare planting beds, mulch, perform leaf removal, weed control, and vacant land management.
Establish and renovate lawns from seed/sod, mow using riding and walk-behind equipment, fertilize, aerate, and string trim.
Empty outdoor trash and recycling receptacles and cigarette butts, remove litter from campus by machine and manually.
Service outdoor special events on campus.
Operate sidewalk sweepers, litter vacuums, pressure wash machines, and hand-held equipment and tools in the cleaning of outdoor hard surface areas.
Perform routine equipment maintenance and small repairs.
