About The Position

The CDL Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting goods to customer and company locations while providing dependable service. This position operates commercial vehicles, completes required inspections and documentation, secures cargo, follows assigned routes and schedules, and complies with all applicable federal, state, local, and company safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License, as required for the assigned vehicle.
  • Required endorsements for assigned equipment or cargo; no disqualifying restrictions.
  • Current medical qualification documentation as required by applicable law.
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to meet company and insurance eligibility standards.
  • Knowledge of commercial vehicle safety, cargo securement, inspections, and hours-of-service requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand route instructions, shipping documents, safety rules, and electronic logging information.
  • Ability to pass required background checks, drug and alcohol testing, road testing, and other employment qualifications.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Commercial driving experience preferred; equivalent training or recent CDL school completion may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate assigned commercial motor vehicles, including tractor-trailers or other company equipment, on local, regional, or over-the-road routes as scheduled.
  • Complete pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections; promptly report defects, maintenance needs, accidents, citations, cargo damage, and safety concerns.
  • Verify bills of lading, delivery instructions, manifests, and other load documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Inspect, balance, secure, and protect cargo using approved equipment and procedures; confirm load weight and placement are within legal and equipment limits.
  • Pick up and deliver freight on time while following assigned routes, customer requirements, and dispatch instructions.
  • Maintain accurate electronic or paper records for hours of service, mileage, fuel, vehicle inspections, deliveries, and receipts.
  • Communicate professionally with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, customers, and supervisors regarding schedules, delays, route changes, and delivery issues.
  • Assist with loading and unloading when required, using safe material-handling practices and equipment.
  • Keep the cab and vehicle clean, organized, and ready for safe operation.
  • Follow all Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, state, local, and company policies, including drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Take part in inventories as required by the Company.
  • Assist the warehouse department in activities requested by management.
