About The Position

This position is responsible for the transportation of donated goods between facilities and Attended Donation Centers. Standards of Performance and Conduct include ensuring actions are consistent with Goodwill ethics, policies, procedures, goals and mission; working collaboratively with management and staff to achieve overall organizational goals; consistently maintaining acceptable level of productivity, ensuring accounts payable/disbursement functions are completed accurately and timely; being punctual and regular in attendance, understanding that time away from work is approved and taken in accordance with established policies; performing duties in a manner that promotes a team concept and reflects Goodwill’s mission, philosophy, and core values of accountability, integrity, dignity, diversity, ingenuity, excellence, opportunity and responsibility; working in accordance with Goodwill policies, procedures and generally accepted business practices; promoting a favorable image and working cooperatively with all organization employees, participants, customers and other persons contacted during the course of performing duties; maintaining strict confidentiality in all aspects of work; complying with privacy and confidentiality policies; attending required safety training and participating in safety drills and exercises; and safeguarding company property, including donated goods.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of Class A driving experience.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work with all levels of organization.
  • Willingness to work flexible, varying hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to accept responsibility, take initiative, problem solve and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in handling interruptions and managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to train, work with and/or act as a good example to individuals receiving services at Goodwill.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstration of excellent oral, written and documentation skill sets.
  • Proficient technology and computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing databases regarding client information.
  • Basic mathematical skills and the ability to read English.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, employees, clients, customers, and the general public using tact, courtesy and cooperativeness.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables; exercise judgment, resourcefulness, ingenuity and initiative.
  • Effective interpersonal and communications skills to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, telephone, cell phone, tablet, fax and copy machine.
  • Must exhibit a high level of integrity and business ethics.
  • Class A Driver License.
  • Have Class A California Driver License and a Department of Motor Vehicle Record with no major violations or suspensions for violations such as convictions for DUI, reckless driving, or related serious violations.
  • Demonstrable ability to drive large trucks and forklifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient skills in some transportation software; willingness and ability to become an in-house expert on those systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive truck and move merchandise between facilities and attended donation centers.
  • Drive forklift when needed to move merchandise in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Load and unload truck.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on trucks/forklift and material handling equipment as needed (i.e. oil, brake fluid, etc.).
  • Clean and maintain processing areas, trucks and attended donation stations.
  • Assist Store Managers as requested.
  • Drive truck on route and pick up materials according to schedule.
  • Load and unload truck and handle merchandise using proper techniques and equipment without damaging goods.
  • Work with and direct helper to maximize production efficiency.
  • Secure materials in truck to prevent shifting and damage during transportation.
  • Use good judgment and tact when deciding to accept or reject donations offered.
  • Complete all reports and documentation accurately and timely.
  • Comply with Safety and Loss Prevention policies and procedures.
  • Provide all necessary customer service while projecting a positive image during public contact.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness of donation area, interior and exterior of the store.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production area and follow “STAR”.
  • Report and document safety hazards, potentially hazardous conditions, and unsafe practices and procedures.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and cooperative working relationships at all times.
  • Maintain professional, polite and positive relationship with clients, customers, and coworkers at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that would lead to successful operation of department, team and/or mission.
