About The Position

The CDL Driver is responsible for safely transporting personnel, materials, and equipment to and from shipyard and industrial project sites. This role supports ongoing maintenance, repair, and cleaning operations aboard U.S. Navy vessels and within shipyard facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience working in shipyards or industrial environments and must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and reliability. This position may require early morning, evening, and weekend work depending on project schedules. Must be located in the Puget Sound area: relocation is not available at this time.

Requirements

  • Valid CDL Class A driver's license with a tanker endorsement
  • Proven ability to operate vehicles safely and efficiently, including those used for tank and hazardous material transport
  • Experience with manual transmission vehicles
  • Ability to understand work instructions and communicate clearly with supervisors and team members
  • Strong commitment to preventive maintenance and vehicle cleanliness (interior and exterior)
  • Must meet minimum DOT requirements for CDL truck drivers
  • Valid non-commercial driver's license
  • Minimum age 21 for interstate or hazardous materials transport
  • One (1) to two (2) years of professional driving experience
  • Valid medical examiner's certificate
  • No active license suspensions
  • Must pass a pre-employment medical exam, background check, and substance screening
  • Must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) throughout employment
  • Must be able to qualify for a DBIDS security badge for access to Navy facilities
  • U.S. Citizenship (required for access to certain Navy work locations)
  • Ability to read and understand technical English required
  • Participation in E-Verify is mandatory

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in shipyards or industrial environments
  • Familiarity with shipyard or industrial safety practices preferred
  • Knowledge of Puget Sound shipyard routes and access requirements
  • Familiarity with GPS systems and route planning

Responsibilities

  • Transport equipment, tools, and materials between SBSBTC facilities, shipyards, and job sites
  • Map out and adjust driving routes based on shipyard access, traffic, and weather conditions
  • Safely load and unload materials or equipment
  • Maintain accurate trip logs and vehicle inspection reports
  • Comply with all company, DOT, and Navy base access requirements
  • Report any vehicle issues immediately and ensure timely maintenance
  • Adhere to company policies for safety, security, and environmental compliance
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and communication with shipyard personnel and customers
