About The Position
The Driver is responsible for operating trucks on rail or road and floating equipment to and from the job site. The Driver also needs to keep up all reports and ensure the trucks are in good safe working order. This role operates equipment to move, load, or unload material, and performs general labor tasks. The Driver installs equipment or attachments on machinery, performs repairs, maintenance, and emergency adjustments as needed. They operate equipment safely and efficiently, performing routine safety and maintenance checks in compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures. Coordination with other crew members using hand or audio signals, and identifying and avoiding hazards are also key responsibilities. The Driver reviews instructions, plans, and diagrams to understand work requirements. Travel is required for this position.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a driver in a construction environment
- Must have a CDL class A Drivers License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Driving Record
- Knowledge of and ability to adhere to safety requirements and procedures
- Ability to read and understand construction specifications
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Responsibilities
- Operates equipment to move, load, or unload material — approximately 50% of the role; the other 50% involves general labor tasks.
- Installs equipment or attachments on machinery and related structures; performs repairs, maintenance, and emergency adjustments as needed.
- Operates equipment safely and efficiently, performing routine safety and maintenance checks in compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinates machine actions with other crew members using hand or audio signals; signals directions or warnings as necessary.
- Identifies and avoids hazards such as utility lines, falling objects, or nearby workers; locates underground services before beginning work.
- Reviews instructions, plans, and diagrams to understand work requirements.
