About The Position

Under general supervision, drives a delivery vehicle to transport materials to locations or customer sites that require the operation of a crane or boom for loading and off-loading. Operates the crane or boom on the delivery truck, including rigging, planning, and hoisting various heavy construction materials. Requires a CDL license to operate delivery vehicles exceeding 26,001 pounds and a crane or boom operator certification.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of driving experience.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience operating a Boom or Crane, or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
  • Valid CDL license at all times.
  • At least 21 years old.
  • Boom or Crane Operator certification.
  • NCCCO boom certification with passed written and practical exams.
  • Must obtain a DOT medical card within five (5) days of request.
  • Less than five moving violations in the past five years.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures while performing driving and materials handling tasks.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand maps, routes, and road signs.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out route assignments.
  • Ability to read and understand machine and equipment diagrams and system schematics.
  • Knowledge of basic math and measurement skills.
  • Must comply with all state and federal regulations.
  • Must have a CDL license.
  • Must have a Boom or Crane Operator certification.
  • Must have NCCCO boom certification and have passed both written and practical exams and repost.

Responsibilities

  • Drives delivery vehicle to transport product, materials, or supplies to and from locations and customer sites.
  • Loads and/or unloads materials requiring crane/boom operation by rigging, planning, and hoisting heavy construction materials onto delivery trucks.
  • Calculates boom/crane capacities and weights, and checks clearances to prevent damage to buildings, hydro wires, and the machine's foundation.
  • Calculates the weight of materials to ensure compliance with truck weight limits and DOT regulations.
  • Addresses and resolves customer issues as appropriate.
  • Informs supervisors of any outstanding issues related to customer deliveries, truck loading, and route sequencing.
  • Inspects and maintains crane/boom equipment to ensure safety and prevent damage to equipment and surrounding structures.
  • Maintains logs of delivery duties, including amounts/weights of items, mileage, and delivery locations; checks items against invoices or bills of lading.
  • Inspects and maintains the delivery vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Reports any maintenance problems to the supervisor.
  • Plans and paces work efficiency to meet daily, weekly, project, or team productivity goals.
  • Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices to prevent injury.
  • Attends periodic safety meetings as required and may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
