About The Position

The HazMat Field Driver/Technician transports hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams to designated generator sites safely and appropriately while operating Class A trucks. The role operates tractor-trailers with a variety of trailer types, including roll-offs, tankers, and vans, to pick up bulk and containerized waste. The driver may periodically operate a straight truck and may work as a technician on lab pack and field service projects. The schedule is Monday through Friday with variable hours and may include 3–4 overnight shifts per week, depending on customer locations, routes, and delivery requirements. Most weekends and holidays are off, with occasional exceptions for critical business needs. The role also involves maintaining accurate driving and waste documentation, complying with applicable transportation and hazardous-material regulations, conducting vehicle inspections, communicating with customers, and participating in site safety activities and required training.

Requirements

Valid Class A commercial driver's license.
Hazardous-material and tanker endorsements, or ability to obtain the endorsements within 90 days of hire.
Motor vehicle record that meets Company policy standards.
Ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER training upon hire.
Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading materials.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Ability to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Safely operate trucks, which may include roll-offs, tankers, gravel trains, tractor-trailers, and box trucks.
Perform less-than-load (LTL) pickups.
Maintain driver documents, including logbooks, quarterly permit books, trip reports, and waste manifests.
Follow DOT regulations for hazardous-waste collection, packaging, and transportation, including placarding, load securement, hazardous-material load segregation, and labeling.
Understand and comply with state weight-limit laws.
Operate vehicles safely and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Use company technology, including mobile applications and software, as assigned by leaders.
Perform DOT/MOT pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
Interact and communicate effectively with customers to ensure satisfaction.
Assist with housekeeping at the facility and on the grounds.
May work as a technician on lab pack and field service projects.
Participate in the Site Safety program and required training.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
