Driver Associate - DOT
About The Position
The Driver Associate performs specialized warehouse tasks, including loading, unloading, order pulling, shipping, returns, forklift operation, fabrication, counter tasks, and product delivery when needed. The role may require operating a company vehicle with a gross vehicle weight greater than 10,001 pounds but less than 26,001 pounds during an average workweek. Candidates selected for the position must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Work is performed under close supervision, following established procedures and seeking supervisor guidance for non-routine matters.
Requirements
- 0–2 years of experience in the area of responsibility.
- An acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report is required.
- A high school diploma or GED is strongly preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Valid driver’s license from the state of residence.
- Knowledge of warehouse procedures, requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, and delivery documents.
- Excellent teamwork and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with flatbeds, box trucks, strapping, and tie-downs.
Responsibilities
- Load, unload, sort, pick, stock, stage, fabricate, and transport goods.
- Carry merchandise weighing 50–300 pounds up and down stairs, using body straps and/or a furniture dolly when needed.
- Check items against purchase orders and packing slips and report shortages, damage, and other discrepancies.
- File orders for delivery and place supplies and equipment in proper storage.
- Operate a forklift or other machinery to complete tasks.
- Drive company vehicles occasionally to pick up incoming stock or deliver materials to designated locations, and serve as an emergency backup driver when needed.
- Inspect vehicles and supplies as required to ensure road safety.
- Prepare and maintain records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
