Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • 36 months experience as a prerequisite for selection for commercial vehicle drivers
  • 24 months of relevant driving experience within the previous 5 years with equipment of similar size and type to that which the driver will be operating
  • No incidents equivalent to a "preventable" level 1 or 2 vehicle incident in the last 24 months
  • Road test to verify the defensive and safe driving skills of commercial vehicle drivers
  • Medical confirmation of fitness for commercial vehicle drivers
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of compressed gases and safe gas handling
  • Valid DZ/Class 3 or AZ/Class 1 (as applicable) driver's license with air brake endorsement
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance
  • Knowledge of on-board computer
  • Ability to use a smart phone

  • Relevant product knowledge and experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-pressure cylinders, liquid gas containers and industrial non-gas products to customers.
  • Load and unload cylinders, count and record cylinder quantities and styles of each product to verify that the load matches the shipping documents.
  • Ensure load identification plates comply with TDG regulations.
  • Complete all shipping documents.
  • Produce end-of-tour, fuel expense and other requested reports.
  • Perform pre-trip and return vehicle inspections, and report/explain defects to supervisor.
  • Ensure that vehicles are in good working order, have them repaired or overhauled, and keep downtime to a minimum.
