About The Position

Midwest Co-op is currently accepting resumes for the position of Driver-2. Under the direction of the Manager, the Driver-2 is responsible for safely operating straight trucks in various configurations to deliver and pick up bulk and packaged products for MCS patrons and facilities. This mid‑entry role is designed for drivers with a DZ license or an inexperienced AZ license looking to develop stronger skills in truck operation, load management, customer service, and compliance. The Driver-2 supports more complex delivery needs while maintaining high safety and service standards.

Requirements

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent required.
  • Class DZ or AZ driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 25 years of age and have a minimum of 3 years experience with class of driver’s license required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certifications such as forklift, WHMIS, and TDG.
  • Strong attention to safety and detail.
  • Customer service focus and willingness to learn new processes.
  • Ability to lift materials within company and regulatory limits.

Responsibilities

  • May assist with on‑the‑job guidance for Driver 1 team members, back‑up drivers, and seasonal staff.
  • May provide informal mentorship related to safe driving, product handling, and customer service.
  • Operates single‑axle and tandem straight trucks (various bodies such as van, flatbed, feed, or tank configurations) following all safety standards and company procedures.
  • Performs thorough pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, including fluid levels, tires, brakes, lights, and safety equipment.
  • Maintains a clean and safe vehicle while adhering to preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Drives in varied environments including rural, agricultural, and industrial settings.
  • Loads/unloads a range of products including feed, crop inputs, hardware, and energy products using manual techniques or forklift equipment.
  • Ensures all loads are properly secured, balanced, and compliant with MTO regulations.
  • Protects product quality by following proper handling, storage, and transportation practices.
  • Follows assigned delivery routes and timelines, adjusting to changing priorities as needed.
  • Provides professional, courteous service while representing MCS on customer sites.
  • Communicates customer feedback, delivery concerns, or service issues to branch leadership.
  • Accurately completes bills of lading, transfer documents, weigh slips, invoices, and daily trip logs.
  • Ensures all licenses, inspection papers, permits, and regulatory documents are current and available in the vehicle.
  • Complies with all applicable laws, including MTO, TDG, WHMIS, and company safety policies.
  • Assists with inter‑branch product transfers and inventory support during peak seasons.
  • Participates in general branch operations such as yard work, warehouse tasks, or equipment organization.
  • Works collaboratively to support the overall performance of the MCS team.
  • Follow all health and safety requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), including using required protective equipment, following safety procedures, and reporting any potential hazards.
  • Follow all company personnel policies, including expectations related to training, performance, and conduct.
  • Participate in required MCS training such as Ministry of Labour courses, Health & Safety Standards, Policies, and AODA accessibility training.
  • Work cooperatively with approved contractors and follow all related safety procedures when contractors are on site.
  • Maintain any required licenses, certifications, or regulatory requirements needed for your role.
  • Perform other assigned duties as assigned.
