About The Position

We are seeking a friendly, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a non-CDL Delivery Driver. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating trucks, loading and unloading merchandise, ensuring order accuracy, collecting payments, and resolving customer issues. You will also be responsible for vehicle inspections, reporting mechanical problems, and completing required training. This position offers the opportunity to work independently and contribute to excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Possess a proper and valid driver’s license.
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years.
  • Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.
  • Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
  • Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
  • Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
  • Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered, ensuring proper securing of the load.
  • Ensure necessary equipment for safe unloading is available.
  • Understand shipping documents and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
  • Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it as directed by the receiving party.
  • Obtain legible signatures for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing material.
  • Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
  • Load the truck at other locations with merchandise (e.g., vendor pickups, customer returns, purchases from other wholesalers).
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses.
  • Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure.
  • Keep truck clean of debris in the cab and body.
  • Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a vehicle over 10,001 lbs. GVWR if a defect or deficiency is found.
  • Remove keys from the truck at the end of the workday and store them in the approved location.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management.
