Exploration Team Members perform subsurface exploration using conventional drilling or in-situ testing techniques. Drilling methods may include auger drilling, mud rotary drilling, air rotary drilling, and diamond bit coring. Daily work includes surveying and locating drilling points; conducting site reconnaissance; loading and unloading tooling, materials, and samples; classifying soil and rock samples; performing routine maintenance and basic repairs on drilling equipment; and preparing internal daily field forms and external DOT Logs. The role also includes operating geotechnical drill rigs, overseeing a two- or three-person drill crew, driving drilling equipment to and from project locations, and supporting project preparation and pre-task planning. Employees are expected to follow safety rules and standards, report safety concerns, and maintain project quality standards.
