About The Position

The basic function of the Drill Press/Utility Operator is to set up and operate drill press and other special purpose machines to fabricate or deburr metallic and non-metallic parts.

Requirements

Read, write and speak English fluently.
Operate and use required tools and equipment safely.
Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
Read and interpret documents such as blueprints, specifications, safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to work with minimal oversight.
Computer literate.
Flexibility to work inside of a fast-pace environment which may ask for quick change in product being produced.
Work well in a team environment, demonstrate good communication skills, and maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Six months to one-year related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

Set up, adjust and operate drill presses, hand punches and deburring machines.
Trim, drill, punch, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces.
Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
Calculate and set controls to regulate drilling factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut.
Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions, adjust machine controls as required and verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications and blueprints by use of appropriate measuring devices.
Communicate and confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve any problems that may arise.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
