About the role: We’re actively searching for a Drill Maintenance Technician to join the Côté Gold team, with a start date to be determined, reporting to the Drill Maintenance Supervisor. This rotational role maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots the autonomous drill fleet, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role supports IMG’s purpose by maximizing equipment performance and uptime, enabling safe and efficient drilling operations. By maintaining advanced autonomous drilling technology, the technician helps drive productivity, operational excellence, and sustainable mining practices at Côté Gold.
Requirements
- College diploma in heavy equipment technician or another related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in maintaining drilling equipment in the mining industry.
- Strong technical foundation with experience in maintenance software, condition monitoring, and troubleshooting complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; autonomous drilling experience is an asset.
- Solid understanding of regulatory and safety requirements, including the Ontario Mining Act and Occupational Health and Safety programs.
- Effective communicator with strong problem-solving abilities and expertise in compressed air systems, 24V electrical/electro-hydraulic controls, hydraulic systems, and rotary drill components.
Nice To Haves
- Certificate of Qualification in Ontario or Red-Seal Certification as heavy-duty equipment technician or other related field is considered an asset although equivalent technical experience will be considered.
- Experience maintaining EPIROC drills is considered an asset, specifically Pit Viper 231s and D65s.
- autonomous drilling experience is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and component replacements to ensure safe, reliable drill operation.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and complete minor and major mechanical repairs on autonomous drill equipment.
- Test, adjust, and calibrate equipment to meet manufacturer specifications and performance standards.
- Identify maintenance backlogs and proactively address issues to prevent downtime and reduce costs.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, adhering to protocols and identifying hazards for continuous improvement.
- Support operational excellence by sharing insights, improving skills, and contributing to process enhancements.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve shift targets, resolve issues, and maintain equipment reliability.
- Accurately document maintenance activities, communicate deficiencies, and maintain detailed equipment and shift logs.
