About The Position

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking an Open Pit Drill and Shovel Welder (Tech 4 or Higher) for its Open Pit Maintenance department. Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex globally. This massive mining operation includes 8 mines and associated infrastructure, producing an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018. The JV is expected to generate around $5 billion in cost savings over the next five years and is operated by Barrick.

Requirements

• Proficiency in AIR ARC procedures and running wire
• Competent in wear iron replacement
• Ability to maintain an inventory of personal tools to complete the job
• Personal hand tools
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
• Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, team orientated and work with minimum supervision
• Proven safety record
• Excellent attendance record
• Willingness to work in adverse conditions
• Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job
• The ability to work a rotating schedule of days and nights

Nice To Haves

• Three (3) years’ experience in related field preferred

Responsibilities

• Safely maintain a fleet of P&H electric shovels, Hitachi 5500 hydraulic shovel, Atlas Copco, and Epiroc drills.
• Maintain welds on various equipment using a variety of processes such as manual arc, tungsten inert gas, metallic inert gas, brazing, air arc, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items ensuring safety.
• Install various items such as safety devices, railings, barriers, arc flash screens, etc. for the purpose of completing projects safely and within established time frames.
• Proficiency in AIR ARC procedures and running wire required.
• Competent in wear iron replacement.
• Responsible for reporting in writing detail of work activities at the completion of every job.
• Other duties as required
