About The Position

The Dredge Operator is responsible for safely operating a 16” electric dredge used for the retrieval of raw material for the production of sand and gravel aggregates. This role also involves operating small watercraft, performing preventative and restorative maintenance on the dredge and its plumbing systems, and potentially assisting with maintenance in operating plants or operating other equipment as needed.

Requirements

High School diploma and/or GED equivalent.
Good hand/eye coordination.
Ability to operate hand/foot controls.
Good vision to perceive depth at close range and distances up to 150 feet.
Ability to climb on and off equipment to operate and service.
Ability to bend, stoop, climb, and reach around mobile equipment.
Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs.
Ability to sit and operate equipment for long periods up to 10+ hours per day.

Nice To Haves

Previous mining dredge and/or mining equipment operation and experience.

Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently operate equipment in accordance with training and manufacturer’s instructions.
Perform preventative and restorative maintenance on the dredge and watercraft.
Conduct pre-shift safety inspections on equipment.
Report needed repairs to supervision.
Maintain good housekeeping of equipment.
Adhere to MSHA and dredge/plant safety rules and regulations.
Work alone for extended hours while on the dredge.
Read and follow equipment operating manuals and task guidelines.
Complete pre-shift inspection reports.
Communicate via radio.
Complete daily reports using basic mathematical aptitude.
Wear all required safety equipment, including personal flotation devices.
Perform duties in a safe manner.
Read and interpret gauges.
Work in a TEAM environment.
Work on and near water.
