About The Position

Canada Pump and Power is growing and seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators, particularly Excavator Operators, to join their team for upcoming long-term projects. This role offers an opportunity to expand skill sets into specialized dredging operations. The Dredge Operator will be responsible for safely operating dredging equipment on various project sites, working as part of a field crew to support pumping, dredging, and water management activities. The ideal candidate is reliable, mechanically inclined, and committed to safe work practices, teamwork, and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Previous heavy equipment operating experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn dredging systems
  • Ability to work in remote, industrial, and outdoor environments
  • Ability to complete daily inspections, FLRAs, and field paperwork accurately
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a crew
  • A safety-focused mindset and willingness to follow site procedures
  • Reliable, flexible, and available for project-based work

Nice To Haves

  • Excavator operating experience is considered a strong asset
  • Experience working around pumps, water, slurry, tailings, ponds, lagoons, or civil/industrial projects is an asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract preferred

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate dredging equipment and related support equipment
  • Monitor dredge performance, production, flow, and operating conditions
  • Complete pre-use inspections, FLRAs, and required site documentation
  • Assist with setup, operation, maintenance, and demobilization of dredging systems
  • Communicate with supervisors, pump operators, and other crew members throughout the shift
  • Identify hazards, equipment concerns, or changing site conditions and report them promptly
  • Support basic maintenance, housekeeping, fueling, and operational checks
  • Follow all company, client, and site-specific safety policies and procedures
  • Be willing to learn new equipment, techniques, and site processes
