About The Position

Arcosa Aggregates is seeking a Dredge Operator for their Amite, LA plant. This role is responsible for operating dredge and mobile equipment to support safe, efficient aggregate production and plant operations. The operator will actively promote safety, assist in the production of natural aggregates, and perform daily pre-shift equipment and workplace inspections. The position requires the ability to work alone on the dredge for long periods, maintain strong communication with other plant employees, and comply with industry safety rules and government regulations. The role also involves performing routine maintenance on equipment and assisting with tasks like placing shore anchors and cables, and laying pipes.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate at least 2 pieces of mobile equipment
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience
  • Prompt, regular, and predictable attendance
  • Positive, Team-based attitude
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends and nights when necessary
  • The ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks up to 60 feet as required
  • The ability to work in varied outdoor environments (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy)
  • The ability to work alone on dredge for long periods of time
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Excavator and/or dozer experience

Responsibilities

  • Actively promote safety awareness and continuous improvement through positive recognition
  • Help in the production of natural aggregates
  • Operate at least 2 pieces of mobile equipment (haul truck, farm tractor, water truck, rubber tire backhoe, front loader, etc.), hydraulic pumps, power winches
  • Operate equipment in quarry or production
  • May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
  • Comply with industry safety rules, procedures and applicable government regulations
  • Perform daily pre-shift equipment and workplace inspections to maintain equipment performance
  • Maintain strong communications with other plant employees and operators
  • Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and the ability to determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
  • Lower anchor poles to verify depths of excavations
  • Directs or assist workers placing shore anchors and cables, laying additional pipes from dredges to shore, and pumping from pontoons
