About The Position

Slate is looking for an energetic, organized, and experienced Exterior Design/Release Engineer to join our growing team. The DRE will be responsible for design and development of the exterior components: bumper, fascia, grill, body panels, wipers, washers and related structures across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or equivalent.
• Minimum 8-10 years of vehicle design and release experience in the areas of exterior trim.
• Knowledge of design considerations required for plastic/composite components.
• Proven communication and team building skills.
• Broad knowledge of NHSTA/FMVSS/IIHS requirements related to exterior components.
• Working knowledge of CATIA and PLM systems (Windchill, TeamCenter, SmarTeams, etc)
• Ability and Desire work in a fun and fast-paced environment, lead projects and small teams.

Responsibilities

• Be an integral part of an energetic team that challenges the status quo of vehicle design.
• Responsible for the design and development of exterior components and assemblies.
• Develop and implement functional objectives to meet project performance targets.
• Manage all aspects of exterior component development to meet project requirements including performance, cost, mass, timing, manufacturability, etc.
• Lead collaboration between internal/external teams and suppliers to meet project requirements.
