About The Position

Marmon Utility LLC, a part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings backed by Berkshire Hathaway, is seeking operators for its Aluminum Wire Draw and Wire Stranding machines. This role is crucial for producing power cables and insulator products that ensure the reliable and safe flow of electricity. This is a full-time position with a specific shift schedule (Mon-Thur 7pm-7am) and is located in Milford, NH. Marmon Utility, through its Hendrix and Kerite brands, has over 200 years of combined expertise in strengthening the electric grid and is looking for individuals with hands-on skills to join their team in an essential industry.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Understanding of basic line operations and line components.
  • Familiarity with tools and measuring devices used in the industry.
  • Ability to operate pay-off and take-up equipment.
  • Knowledge of ISO requirements related to line operations.
  • Ability to select and install gears and dies.
  • Understanding of internal/industry codes and abbreviations for conductors and wires.
  • Basic principles of welding.
  • Ability to identify and tag finished products.
  • Willingness to accept direction and work effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to read micrometers and other precision measuring tools.
  • Perform basic shop math.
  • Read and follow written instructions.
  • Communicate effectively to exchange information and instructions.
  • Troubleshoot basic line problems.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail.
  • Perform simple computer tasks.
  • Produce quality conductor welds.

Responsibilities

  • Operates the Aluminum Wire Draw and the Wire Stranding machines to meet quality and productivity requirements safely with minimum scrap.
  • Complies with all company safety rules and ensures the safety of self and others.
  • Maintains equipment and work areas in a clean, organized, and orderly condition.
  • Works in a professional manner—punctual, dependable, and consistent.
  • Sets up both lines mechanically from pay-off through take-up operations, including installing appropriate tooling (dies) and auxiliary equipment.
  • Monitors the supply of raw materials to ensure continuous operation.
  • Performs required measurements using company-approved measuring devices to ensure the final product meets specifications.
  • Verifies all measuring devices are in proper calibration.
  • Takes corrective action as needed to maintain product quality.
  • Generates product identification tags for finished product and maintains accurate records.
  • Participates in scheduled team meetings and contributes to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Supports and maintains ISO certification requirements.
  • Follows all applicable System Level Procedures (SLP) and Process Controls (PC).
  • Follows production tracking report schedules.
  • Visually inspects empty take-up reels for proper size, strength, appearance, and any foreign materials.
  • Operates the take-up machine, ensuring reels are neat and free of crossovers or loops.
  • Welds wire to maintain spool-to-spool operation.
  • Welds rod to maintain rod-to-rod operation.
  • Monitors annealer solution and die lubrication levels to ensure smooth and continuous operation.
