About The Position

Virginia Eagle Distributing (VED) is seeking a dependable, hands-on Draught Technician to install, service, and maintain draught beer systems across an assigned territory. This role is crucial for protecting product quality and VED’s on-premise reputation, growing our on-premise draught business, and supporting the highest standards of quality and safety at every account. This is a physical, technical, out-in-the-field role that involves working hands-on with CO2 systems, glycol cooling, and draught lines at bars, restaurants, and retail accounts, while also building relationships to grow VED’s on-premise draught business.

Requirements

  • Valid Virginia driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Proficiency with the hand and power tools used to install and maintain draught systems, including line cleaning pumps, pressure gauges, wrenches, and CO2 regulators
  • Working knowledge of faucets, shanks, couplers, and glycol cooling systems
  • Ability to lift and carry, including overhead lifting, 15–40 pounds or more on a repetitive basis with frequent bending, stooping, standing, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and sitting
  • Ability to move full kegs (approximately 160 pounds); most locations allow use of a hand truck or keg cart, but in coolers or spaces too small for a cart, must be able to safely roll, tilt, and maneuver a full keg by hand
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather and/or temperature conditions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing
  • Basic math and computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Class A CDL preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and clean all draught lines within your assigned territory to VED and manufacturer quality standards
  • Maintain and service CO2 and glycol cooling systems, including checking and replacing CO2 tanks, setting regulator pressure, and servicing glycol chillers
  • Diagnose draught system performance issues, including checking beer temperature, line pressure, pour rate, and foam quality; identify and correct the root cause of poor-pouring or off-quality draught beer
  • Replace worn or damaged tubing, seals, gaskets, couplers, and fittings as needed
  • Maintain draught cleaning records for all lines within your territory
  • Aggressively pursue competitors’ draught business to convert taps to VED brands
  • Coordinate, implement, and execute On-Premise National Chain Account promotions and directives
  • Order and maintain an accurate inventory of draught equipment and supplies
  • Coach and train On-Premise Route Drivers and the On-Premise Promotional Team on draught quality standards
  • Ensure same-day coverage and resolution of all draught line problems within your territory
