About The Position

The drama teacher is responsible for helping students learn the listening and speaking skills behind public speaking through drama. The teacher is responsible for improving students’ listening and effective communication skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; field of study correlated to teaching assignment as a drama teacher with the appropriate licensure code or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.
  • Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times around students, other staff members and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates high expectations for every student.
  • Provides opportunities for every student to succeed.
  • Teaches utilizing a variety of strategies.
  • Leads students to higher level thinking skills.
  • Uses a variety of learning aids, technology, materials and equipment to stimulate higher level thinking.
  • Involves all students in the learning process and adjusts instruction according to the needs of the students.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of varied methodologies in instruction and assessment.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
  • Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress.
  • Supervise students in and out-of-classroom during the assigned school day.
  • Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
  • Maintains professional competence through professional learning activities provided by the District, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in the evaluation process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
