About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking to hire a Draftsman for a position located in the Kingsport, TN area. This role involves drafting detailed construction drawings, topographical profiles, and related maps and specification sheets used in planning and construction. It is a non-exempt role that reports to a Drafting Supervisor, Engineer, or AutoCAD Designer. The position performs a variety of routine duties within established policies.

Requirements

High school or equivalent
Minimum two (2) years of drafting experience or equivalent combinations of experience and training
Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills
Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Nice To Haves

Preferably experienced in CAD software to create drawings and/or ability to create drawings manually
Some sites may require associate degree including AutoCAD training or bachelor's degree

Responsibilities

Drafts detailed construction drawings, topographical profiles, and related maps and specification sheets used in planning and construction.
Plots maps and charts showing profiles and cross-sections, indicating relation of topographical contours and elevations to buildings, retaining walls, tunnels, overhead power lines, and other structures.
Drafts detailed drawings of structures employing structural reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, wood and other structural material.
Produces plans and details of foundations, building frame, floor and roof framing and other structural elements.
May accompany survey crew in the field to locate grading markers or to collect data required for revision of construction drawings.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Comply with company and client job site safety requirements.
