About The Position

Under general supervision, this role drafts designs utilizing computer-aided drafting systems to prepare drawings and designs. These drawings are used to obtain work permits and to illustrate construction methods, materials, and fabrication direction. The position involves creating route files for the Layout Department and assisting in identifying and fixing trouble areas to ensure smooth manufacturing or installation processes. The Draftsman II-2 also researches and recommends new materials and hardware for use on signage or other structures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and three years of relevant experience involving demonstrated abilities in drafting, mechanical drawing, and computer design work; or any combination of training, education and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills.
• Ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple work activities to meet critical deadlines, as well as working independently.
• Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person, via telephone and in writing.
• Ability to operate computer, telephone, and other office equipment.
• Excellent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and drafting (AutoCAD, CoreIDRAW, Autodesk Inventor, Titan, etc.).
• Excellent basic design math skills.
• Strong work ethic with an enthusiastic, positive attitude, and the highest level of integrity.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to maintain regular and timely attendance.

Responsibilities

• Drafts and produces engineering drawings and data needed for the permitting process that meet local municipalities guidelines.
• Drafts and produces shop drawings for in-house or outside vendors to illustrate signage or other structure fabrication.
• Converses with engineers and other subject matter experts to interpret design concepts, determine nature and type of required detailed.
• Creates route files for the Layout Department.
• Assists in identifying trouble areas and providing necessary fixes to ensure the manufacturing or installation processes are not impeded.
• Researches and recommends new materials and hardware for use on signage or other structures.
• Prints or compiles engineering drawing packages for dissemination or submission.
• Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned.
