About The Position

Hog Slat, Inc. is seeking an experienced Drafting Technician to draft swine, poultry, and farm facilities in the United States, based out of Newton Grove, North Carolina. The company provides production solutions for poultry and hog producers, and its sales team works with local poultry producers on turnkey, retrofit, and remodel barn construction projects. The Drafting Technician communicates with project stakeholders and prepares drawings for new construction, remodels, and special projects to meet customer needs and schedules. The role reports directly to the Engineering Manager. General construction knowledge and AutoCAD experience and/or certification are required; experience with modern swine and poultry facility construction is preferred. The position supports Construction, Sales, and company goals by producing accurate, detailed drawings, coordinating effectively with stakeholders, maintaining organized drawing folders, and identifying potential drafting problems before drawings are published to the field. Occasional travel may be necessary for field visits. The technician must also be willing to answer calls after normal business hours for emergencies, questions, or coordination with project teams in multiple U.S. time zones.

Requirements

AutoCAD or similar software experience or certification.
General construction knowledge.
Strong understanding of drafting standards, dimensioning, and tolerancing.
Attention to detail and accuracy in drawn work.
Ability to interpret specifications, technical drawings and sketches, and project documents.
Satisfactory driving record that can be maintained for liability and insurance purposes.
Team-oriented, hardworking, flexible, self-directed, and willing to learn and grow within the organization.
Ability to complete projects within specified timeframes and multitask.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Draft drawing sets using provided specifications, sketches, and related project documents.
Communicate effectively with the Engineering Manager and project stakeholders.
Quickly hand-sketch or create AutoCAD details and sections for review and approval.
Produce detailed CAD drawings, plans, elevations, and sections for concrete, wood framing, equipment layouts, plumbing, and electrical work as required.
Maintain an organized drawing folder structure.
Ensure drawings comply with industry standards and code requirements.
Understand project schedules and prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines.
Travel when necessary for field visits.
Answer calls after normal business hours for emergencies, questions, or coordination with project teams in multiple U.S. time zones.
Work in a team environment to support Construction, Sales, and company goals and objectives.
Continue education in other software and best practices at the supervisor’s request.
Troubleshoot and identify potential problems during drafting before drawings are published to the field.
