Drafting Technician, Traction Power Supply & Distribution

About The Position

Reporting to the Associate Director, Energy & Electrification, within the Transit and Rail practice of the Technical Professionals organization, the individual will be responsible for preparing CAD design drawings, 3D modeling, and ensuring the quality and compliance of all aspects and deliverables related to traction power supply and distribution systems for transit and rail projects. Your role will involve preparing and updating drawings and schematics for traction power supply and distribution systems, including single-line diagrams, electrical protection and control diagrams, substation equipment installation plans, catenary plans, and grounding and bonding diagrams. You will also prepare and update 3D models for these systems, demonstrate mastery of the Quality Management System, ensure compliance with quality standards, participate in the design of traction power supply and distribution systems, communicate with public utility companies (e.g., Hydro-Québec, CSEM), and utilize software such as Bentley MicroStation V8i, AutoCAD 3D, Revit Electrical, and Autodesk BIM 360.

Requirements

  • DEP or DEC in Electrical Engineering or any other relevant academic training.
  • More than 3 years of experience in computer-aided drafting (CAD).
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Autodesk BIM 360, and Bentley MicroStation software.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Bilingual (French and English).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Revit MEP is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of railway standards (AREMA, NFPA, CSA, etc.) is an asset.

Responsibilities
