The drafting Technician III is responsible for overseeing all Building Information Modeling activities across Mission Critical projects, including data centers and other mission-critical facilities. This role leads the coordination of mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing systems through the full project lifecycle, working closely with BIM Coordinators, Design Leads, Engineers, and Project Managers to ensure accurate, constructible models that meet project schedules, quality standards, and client expectations. The drafting Technician III maintains open, positive, and professional communication with internal teams, general contractors, trade partners, and vendors at all times.

Requirements

  • Expert proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks for BIM modeling, clash detection, and coordination.
  • Experience with BIM 360, Bluebeam, Viewpoint Teams, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of LOD requirements and BIM execution plan development.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and piping for mission-critical and commercial construction.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor BIM Coordinators and team members.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and coordinate construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a lead or senior BIM role preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all BIM-related activities across Mission Critical projects from startup through project completion.
  • Oversee the development, coordination, and quality control of mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing BIM models in Revit and Navisworks.
  • Direct BIM Coordinators and team members, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to ensure project deliverables are met on time and to standard.
  • Review and provide complete prefabrication, preassembly, and site logistics visualization and conceptual scenarios, mitigating clash risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead clash detection efforts using Navisworks, produce clash reports, and coordinate resolutions with other disciplines in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Design Leads, Engineers, and Project Managers to develop engineering drawings including arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, and component details in accordance with established standards.
  • Ensure all BIM models and drawings meet LOD requirements, company QA/QC standards, and project specifications.
  • Create, update, and maintain accurate technical drawings for HVAC and plumbing systems using AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant design tools.
  • Manage submittts, RFIs, and project documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission.
  • Produce scheduling and quantity extraction from BIM models to support project planning and forecasting.
  • Ensure production processes are in line with project schedules and proactively identify and address any design or coordination issues.
  • Lead and participate in internal and external coordination meetings, providing technical expertise and driving resolution of design conflicts.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Corvant policies, procedures, industry standards, and safety protocols.
