About The Position

DGR Engineering is seeking a full‑time, Drafting/CAD Technician to support the Electrical Power (EP) Department. This position assists engineers and project teams by preparing and revising technical drawings and plan sets for electrical power and utility projects. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, eager to learn, and interested in building a long‑term career in engineering drafting and design.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic experience or coursework using CAD software (AutoCAD or similar).
• Ability to follow instructions, interpret markups, and apply drafting standards.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree or technical certificate in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Internship, coursework, and/or professional experience related to drafting or engineering support.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD fundamentals such as layers, viewports, scaling, and plotting.
• Interest in electrical power, utility, or infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and revise CAD drawings and plan sheets from engineer sketches, markups, redlines, and reference materials.
• Assist with the layout and organization of drawing sets, including title sheets, notes, and standard details.
• Apply DGR drafting standards, templates, layers, blocks, and plotting styles to ensure consistency and quality.
• Coordinate with engineers and senior technicians to incorporate revisions and respond to project feedback.
• Maintain organized CAD files and assist with document control and revision tracking.
• Support preparation of plan sets for internal review, permitting, bidding, and construction.
• Learn and follow established workflows for electrical power drawings, including one‑line diagrams, layouts, and details (training provided).
• Perform basic quality checks for completeness and clarity prior to submittals (final technical review remains with engineering staff)
