About The Position

MACOM is hiring a drafter to work with the Hamilton, NJ design team. The drafter will become an essential team player creating electrical and mechanical drawings to support design engineering and production manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Formal drafting training, ex. vocational high school with relevant trade, trade school, community college.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in an AutoCAD Operator role.
  • Outstanding fluency and skill within the AutoCAD program.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledgeable in drafting standards and best practices.
  • Incredible attention to detail with a focus on impeccable quality.
  • Basic understanding of electronic circuits.
  • Excellent time management skills to work with multiple projects for multiple managers with competing deadlines.
  • Effective communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build long lasting partnerships.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Due to ITAR regulations, only candidates who are U.S. Persons (U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, or individuals granted asylum or refugee status) will be considered for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with SolidWorks 3D design and 2D drafting desirable.
  • Prior experience with semiconductor mask design is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work with experienced mechanical designers to create full manufacturing documentation packages for complex electromechanical assemblies.
  • Work with electrical engineers to generate documentation packages, such that electrical designs can be sent to manufacturing partners to produce.
  • Interface with other departments within MACOM, manufacturing partners, and vendors to create realizable designs taking manufacturing capabilities into consideration.
  • Creating accurate AutoCAD drawings from hand sketches, verbal instructions.
  • Generate engineering drawings for printed circuit board designs and assembly prints.
  • Working with design engineers, and sub-contractors, to produce and alter drawings.
  • Thinking creatively and critically to support the project team in the design process, to create sketches and drawings.
  • Manage sketches and drawings on our CAD server per an established structure.
  • Exhaustively reviewing and checking sketches and drawings for errors, before being sent to the design team.
  • Seeking clarity and understanding from engineers when you are not 100% certain of provided instructions.
  • Exceptional model and drawing accuracy.
  • Design rule checking.
  • Update design rules as required.
  • Keeping up to date and maintaining passion for the latest advances in engineering documentation.
  • Maintain product documentation and engineering change orders.
  • Advocate for Drafting as a function and core competency within the company.
